About the inspiration of the HBCU kidz logo, lettering and spirit!
- The registered trademark for the HBCU kidz brand and logo are unique in that they reflect over 200 powerful and
inspirational messages developed by the founders and collected from across the United States by concerned
members of the HBCU Village Community through a market research study and online focus groups.
- Our HBCU Village community encompasses alumni, students, parents, grandparents, educators, childcare
providers, Godparents, relatives, friends, co-workers and even supportive neighbors! Most importantly U!
- The sparkling and inquisitive eyes of a baby are wide-open, ready and eager to be quickly taught all of the wonderful
things that are necessary to ultimately grow into his or her future graduate status. Note that the mortar board just
seems to hover over his or her head and does not yet rest snuggly on top. Why? Because as a little "munchkin",
the time has not yet arrived. Although it is only a vision of the future, the time is quickly approaching. In fact, doesn't
the time seems to arrive faster than what most of "US" seem economically prepared to face?
- Initially the letters were just arbitrarily selected and placed to be unique and eye-catching. Over 100 people in our
HBCU Village Community were surveyed. Many voiced their concern that they just could not read the letters. HBCU
kidz, Inc. quickly responded with fun "purposely placed lettering". The logo is somewhat modernized to reflect the
direction we must move toward in order to attract the attention of today's generation...ASAP before it is too late to
reach them.
- Historically Black College and University is abbreviated. The size of the letters "HBC" collectively represent the
individuals in our HBCU village standing united and equally important. We remember Dr. Martin Luther King’s
Dream of unity and strength in numbers. We recall the fact that our nation’s Black colleges have created new
paths for others to confidently follow since 1837.
- The U is positioned right in the middle and is the most pronounced part of the logo because U are the most
important person to connect the HBCUs to the child. Everyone who sees a child wearing the brand can help create
a positive vision of his or her future graduate status.
- The U is your subtle reminder to take positive action when U see the brand. It doesn't matter if U are a parent or not.
It doesn't really matter if U know the child's family or not. If U believe that education is important, and U care about
our future then U can give positive inspiration to the parents and to the child who wear the HBCU kidz brand. A
sincere nod of encouragement, an offer to provide college search or preparation advice, or even a brief testimony to
the value education has had on your own life is all that we ask of U. We must get the word out that Education is
important GEAR for LIFE and it is time to dress our children for success. We do not need to passively allow another
child to fail or quit school. Today is a new day! We can now help them get from crib to college with a cute little gift of
knowledge...the HBCU kidz brand!.
- A 12 year old recently explained the logo to us in this way "We want U to help connect the colleges to the kids!"
- It has been said that the definition of inspire is to breath spirit into the mind of another. The HBCU kidz inspiration
is the HBCU spirit which comes from each of our collective family life experiences, from our ongoing research and
from the words of this historical anthem. Even though the anthem's profound and inspiring lyrics were written by an
HBCU alumn in 1900, the spirit still moves us to action today.
- Bottomline... The HBCU kidz brand's daily goal is to breathe positive spirit into the minds of others. We believe that
our hope and faith in a brighter future is restored with the birth of every new baby. A gift branded by HBCU kidz logo
symbolizes this belief. An HBCU kidz is a gift of love created to help make a child's success in life a reality and
