FINAL THOUGHTS AND TAKE AWAYS FROM CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
SUMMARY: As a community we must work together, work smart and work hard.
"There are highly effective cyber programs operating in Philadelphia that enable a parent to custom
tailor learning style with an outstanding high technology education. We have 3 computers in our home
for each child who are aged 6,4 and 3! PA Cyber Charter and Leadership Academy need to be an
option for parents to consider! Most daycares even provide the service for you! Children want to think
not be dictated to for 6 hours. Let them check out sites such as PBS.org, eLearningforKids, Starfall,
etc. Don't just talk to your kids about having positive self esteem...Take them out to see black
business in action. Walk the talk yoursel! One of the many examples is "Accel Community Cyber
Program"
"We are introducing the colors red, black and green combined with the meaning behind them
including the words pride, power and purpose. We have to overcome the fragmentation and
encourage mentoring programs and community outreach efforts must be stepped up!"
"In order to meet the type of parents who need this information we are discussing, I have personally
jumped on busses, walked the streets, visited door to door. You must get out of your comfort zone
and reach people where they are...they are afraid to ask for help and they do not know where to go to
get it."
"There seems to be 2 worlds. Internet vs. Real World. Sometimes the internet can help bring people
together who would be afraid to admit that they needed help to someone face to face. We must find
ways to make the most of the technology to save our babies! One of the many examples is Save Our
Black Babies"
"Overall, the plight of black folks can be summed up by and traced back to the majority feeling
powerless and feeling fearful. This will lead to the extinction of the black race. Sites like BlackPlanet.
com and MySpace.com are replete with this group of black folks. While the empowered-feeling, face-
your-fears, progressive black folks are on sites like LinkedIn.com, and make up the minority of black
folks. In the past, this minority may have identifies with the colors red, black, and green. (Although I
tended to relate these colors to somewhat militant-minded black folks.) It may be that the revival of
these colors could be good for uniting the empowered-feeling blacks. "
